Gecko is my miracle puppy. I met her as a very
ill 3 day old, born with serious forelimb deformities and a full length cleft palate. Her breeder was unable to provide
the intensive care that a puppy who was unable to move around on her own and who had to be tube fed every 2 hours required. I
decided to give the pathetic little puppy a shot at life. It took 3 weeks of intensive care, tube feeding around the
clock every two hours, and 6 weeks of splinting her front legs, having tiny splints made by a physical therapist and applying
them 3 times daily to know that she was going to survive. At 12 weeks her palate was repaired, she has required
several procedures since then to close a small hole which was not closed with the initial procedure. The tendons
in her front legs are very tight, and she will never be quite normal, but don't tell her that!
She may be small, but she is CRAZY about the lure, and recently competed,
placing 2nd, in her 1st ASFA lure coursing event.
